Climate change is a global challenge. The cooperation of the world community is an important basis for reducing global warming. Climate justice must also play an important role in this. After all, it is the poor countries in particular that suffer from climate change, even though they contribute hardly anything to global warming. While the industrialized countries are accelerating climate change with ever-increasing emissions, the chances of poorer countries being able to protect themselves against the consequences and develop sustainably economically are declining. The question for more climate justice is: How can we stop living beyond the means of others?
The second part of the "Realities of Climate Change" event will - also based on the contributions from the first part of the event - look at what climate justice means, why it is so important, and how it can be achieved. What should be the role of wealthy countries globally? What responsibility do they have to bear? How can poorer countries continue to develop economically while combating climate change and operating in an ecologically sustainable manner? However, you are very welcome joining the session from 4pm onwards only. The visit of the first session part is not compulsory.
In groups, we want to get into conversation with each other and deal with these and other questions around climate justice and climate protection and look for ideas and solutions.
This event will take place in English language mainly. Of course, we will assist with translation, whenever help is needed.
